Poetry / Humour / Thoughful
For Grade 2 - 3

If you like poetry, you'll like Canadian Poems for Canadian Kids.

Every poem tells a story and that's true of every page in this short but fun filled collection. There is the poem about stories themselves, another about hiccups, and a third about a Viking in a closet, everyone delightful in its own way.

Styles vary from traditional rhyming poetry to modern free verse and a few that dangle wonderfully in between. These poems will drive you to giggle and laugh.

There are a lot of poems to like here, but my three favourites, though it was hard to choose, are "When Grandpa Gets to Fiddling", Robin Patterson, "My Ice Cream Cone", Jocelyn Shipley, and "'Tis the Season", Gerry O'Brien.

Try it, you'll like it.
